Pressed Design
As soon as your bouquet arrives, I carefully deconstruct it and prepare each flower for pressing - a process which takes around 3 hours. For at least a week afterwards, I check the presses daily, replacing the damp paper with dry sheets to help each flower press successfully. Timings vary by flower: smaller wildflowers press within a few weeks, while fleshier blooms like rose, tulips and foxgloves can take up to four weeks.Once pressed, your flowers are arranged on either a black or hand-stained backing, or within a floating frame.
The plants’ scientific names, and your personalised wedding label displaying your names, wedding location and date may also be added, depending on your design choice.
Dried Design:
Your flowers are carefully dried over a period of up to five weeks. Once ready, I arrange them by hand and order a bespoke, custom-sized frame to perfectly complement your design. Each flower is attached to the backing, with your personalised label added at the bottom, displaying your names, wedding location and date.Once your artwork is complete, I’ll email you photos along with the invoice for the remaining balance. Once payment is received, we’ll either arrange a day and time for you to collect your piece from the studio (required for shadow-boxes), or have it delivered to you.

Each flower preserves differently - some are more suited to pressing whereas others are best dried (i.e. for a shadow-box). In my experience this is what I’ve found:
Unsuitable for pressing: Dahlias, Anthurium, Calla lilies, Chrysanthemums
Unsuitable for drying: Orchids, Lilies.
Flowers that can be pressed but look much better when dried: Peonies
White flowers don’t stay bright white, they generally turn cream, ivory, yellow or beige depending on the species.

Hello, I’m Lydia, the artist behind Lydia Florence. I’m based in Surrey, where I work from my garden studio, carefully preserving wedding bouquets and transforming them into timeless pieces of art.
With a background in art and design, and experience working as a Graphic Designer in the film industry, I developed a strong eye for detail and composition. It was during this time that I discovered a love for pressing flowers - creating delicate herbarium pieces that captured the natural beauty of each flower.
What began as a personal passion soon became something more meaningful.
In 2020, I started creating pressed flower artwork using locally foraged flowers and foliage. Then, a year later, a friend asked if I could preserve her wedding bouquet. After sharing the finished piece, I was overwhelmed by the number of brides asking for the same, and that’s when Lydia Florence truly began.
Now, I specialise in helping couples preserve one of the most meaningful details of their wedding day; transforming their bouquet into a piece of art they can treasure for years to come. I’ve now preserved over 100 beautiful bouquets!
Each bouquet I receive is treated with the utmost care, with the aim of creating something that feels just as special as the day it came from.
